Quick Facts About Benagil Cave

What is the Benagil Cave?

The Benagil Cave (Algar de Benagil) is a sea cave located along the southern coast of Portugal's Algarve region. It features a spectacular dome-shaped interior with a natural opening in the ceiling – often called the "eye" or "skylight."

How can you visit Benagil Cave?

You can visit by kayak, SUP, or licensed boat tour. Landing on the cave beach is no longer allowed, but you can paddle right inside and experience it from the water. Swimming to the cave is prohibited.

Why is kayaking the best way?

Kayak offers the most complete experience. You paddle at your own pace, enter the cave silently (no engine noise), and can explore smaller caves that boats cannot access. Most tours last about 2 hours and cover 5-7 km of stunning coastline.
